For many senior leaders, the frustration isn’t simply having too much to do. It’s watching younger members of the team approach deadlines, working hours and responsibility differently from the way they did when building their own careers. Overwork used to be the currency of commitment but commitment looks different across generations. In this episode of Where Leadership Meets Life, I look at what can really be happening when you’re continually the person staying late, picking up unfinished work or making sure the deadline is met. Is it a performance problem? A capability gap? A capacity issue? Or are different generations working from very different expectations of what commitment actually means? If the work keeps getting done it's only because you’re stretching, the real problem can remain hidden. That pressure doesn’t necessarily finish when you leave work. What you carry for your team can affect the energy, patience and attention you have left when you get home too. If you lead a multigenerational team and regularly find yourself thinking, “Why has this fallen back on me again?”, this episode will help you look at what may actually be sitting underneath that frustration. This is Where Leadership Meets Life - I help senior leaders navigate multigenerational leadership and the impact leadership has beyond work. #leadership #leadershipcoaching #work #teamwork #familytime #life
