In this exclusive video, we take you on a ground-level tour of the latest construction situation of MRT Line-1 in September 2026. The project covers the Airport–Kamalapur underground section and the New Market–Purbachal elevated section, creating a major new transportation corridor for Dhaka. We visited key areas of the project, including the Pitalganj depot area, New Market, Nadda, Merul Badda, Middle Badda, North Badda and Shahjadpur. The video shows the ongoing utility relocation works, excavation activities and the current condition of different project areas. Utility relocation is one of the most important preparatory stages before underground metro construction. Gas, water, electricity, drainage, telecommunications and optical fiber lines need to be relocated before tunnel and station construction can progress safely. The New Market station will be particularly important because it is planned as an interchange between the underground and elevated sections of MRT Line-1 and will also connect with MRT Line-5.
