CANTUS: Il bianco e dolce cigno by Jacques Arcadelt

The 18th installment from our COVID-19 Sessions recorded live at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis on March 17, 19, and 20. We prepared this Jacques Arcadelt madrigal for our 2019 spring program "When I Grow Up," and thought we would dust it off for a little contrast in these sessions. We’re pretty sure everyone is looking forward to the end of "social distancing," but perhaps we’ll let "Il bianco e dolce cigno" do the talking for us... ---- The white and sweet swan dies singing, and I, weeping, reach the end of my life. Strange and different fate, that he dies disconsolate and I die a blessed death, which in dying fills me full of joy and desire.
