Histology of the pituitary gland

The pituitary is also known as the master gland because of the number of hormones that it produces that affect other cells, tissues and organs in the body. If we look at the pituitary gland under the microscope we can see how the cells look different in the anterior pituitary and the posterior pituitary and talk about how their different functions cause this.
