Hidden Treasure I Lift My Eyes 10-18-26

This is another video in our series on Hidden Treasures that we find in the Word. This message is based on Psalm 121:1-2 where David writes, "I lift up eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." While the verse itself does not state where the speaker is at the moment, we can deduce from the context that he is in the depths of a valley in need of looking up to the mountains. This message is the third in a series talking about walking through those valleys of life, and there are several different kinds of valleys that we are sometimes called to walk through. Regardless of how little we like walking through them or how much we try to avoid them, these valleys of life have their purpose. Paul writes in Romans 5:3-5 that these periods of trial and suffering ultimate produce hope in our life. As we walk the valley, we lift our eyes in hope, we are reminded of how very dependent we are on the mercies of God, and those valley journeys often become ebenezers, or moments to remember what God has done for us. Here I raise my ebenezer, as the old hymn says, as my follow my Shepherd as he leads me through this valley I am in.
