The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is a big, heavy, powerful adventure motorcycle. On paper, it shouldn’t be able to do some of the things it does. But after spending time riding it hard, for almost 40000km, mainly gravel and off-road I started to understand what makes this bike so special. This isn’t a typical KTM 1290 Super Adventure R review. No endless list of specifications. No brochure reading. This is about the feeling. The way it handles. The way the engine delivers its power. The way a motorcycle this big can somehow feel so alive. And, of course, the compromises that come with building something this "different". So is the 1290 Super Adventure R simply too heavy? Or is it a masterpiece of engineering?
