The TRAGIC Story of Whataburger

Harmon Dobson was an ambitious entrepreneur who wanted to create a hamburger so big it took two hands to hold, prompting customers to exclaim, "What a burger!" Opening the first stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950, he pioneered the iconic A-frame orange-and-white striped buildings that became famous across the American South. However, just as the family business was expanding rapidly and gaining massive popularity, Dobson’s life was cut short in 1967. A private plane he was piloting crashed shortly after takeoff, killing him instantly. His widow, Grace, miraculously took over and successfully kept the beloved family business alive.
