Better For You

Sometimes when my wife and I get into an argument, my brain decides that's the perfect time to forget how words work. My mind starts racing, trying to figure out what I want to say, how to say it, and how to make sure what I actually mean comes across. Meanwhile, I'm just standing there staring at her with a blank face while my brain tries to catch up. I know how frustrating that can be for her. It's frustrating for me too, because there's usually a thousand things going through my head even when it looks like there's nothing going on at all. This song came from that feeling struggling to find the right words when they matter most, worrying that what I finally say won't land the way I meant it, and recognizing that communication is something I can be better at. More than anything, it's a promise to keep trying.
