The Holy Spirit is not merely a force, power, or influence; He is a divine Person, fully God, who desires fellowship with believers.
Biblical Evidence
He has a mind — 1 Corinthians 2:10–11.
He has a will — 1 Corinthians 12:11.
He has emotions — Ephesians 4:30.
He speaks — Acts 13:2.
He teaches — John 14:26.
He guides — John 16:13.
He can be resisted — Acts 7:51.
He intercedes for us — Romans 8:26
The Holy Spirit played a vital role in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Jesus depended on the Spirit's presence, anointing, and power to fulfil His earthly mission.
Key Roles of the Holy Spirit:
Conceived Jesus — Luke 1:35.
Anointed Jesus at His baptism — Matthew 3:16.
Led Jesus into the wilderness — Luke 4:1.
Empowered Jesus for ministry — Luke 4:14.
Enabled Jesus to preach the Gospel — Luke 4:18.
Worked through Jesus in miracles and deliverance — Matthew 12:28.
Enabled Jesus to offer Himself through the eternal Spirit — Hebrews 9:14.
Was involved in the resurrection —
Conclusion
Jesus demonstrated the importance of the Holy Spirit in fulfilling God's purpose. Likewise, believers need the Holy Spirit's guidance, anointing, and power to serve God effectively.
Because the Holy Spirit is a Person, we can know Him, love Him, fellowship with Him, listen to His guidance, and obey Him.
The Holy Spirit is not merely a power to experience, but a Person to know and fellowship with daily.
