SD40E3 1712 & Crispy YN2 Leads CSX Y102 on the Siding Track Into Fresh Pond Yard During Nor’easter!

The railroad never stops moving and this was definitely no exception. During the Nor’easter of 2026 last month I decided to make my way outside on a rainy Sunday not expecting to see anything thinking the railroads are probably in lockdown mode due to the massive storm slamming the east coast. Turned out to be the complete opposite as yard job Y102 was slowly pulling into Fresh Pond Yard with a EMD SD40E3 leader and a nice YN2 second out using the new freshly extended siding track. The siding track that previously terminated near Grand Av has now been fully extended into Fresh Pond Yard to allow for longer inbound/outbound trains and extra storage space for the New York & Atlantic Railway. Y102 slowly brings their inbound train to a gentle stop and dumps their train on the siding for the NY&A to pick up. I decided to wait for a few minutes thinking they probably wouldn’t have a train to pick up from the yard and would return lite power. However as luck would have it I was proven wrong by the railroad and unfortunately missed them returning back approximately 30 mins later with a short train bound for Oak Point Yard. Just goes to show you that the railroad never stops moving no matter what the weather is or what you expect will happen. Hope you all enjoy this rainy catch!
