Udupi: Krishna Janmashtami celebrations are gaining momentum in the temple town as preparations are underway for the Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Vittalapindi festivals scheduled for September 4 and 5 under the Paryaya Sri Shirooru Mutt. One of the key highlights is the beautifully crafted Mrinmaya, or clay idol of Lord Krishna, which is being prepared for worship during the celebrations. The idol is being created by senior artist Somanatha Chitapadi of Budnar in Kasturba Nagar, Udupi. The idol depicts Kadagolu Krishna and measures about one Genu, approximately 9 inches in height.
