Dan Locklair - Since Dawn (for Narrator, Chorus and Two Pianos)

Composer Dan Locklair's Since Dawn (A Tone Poem for Narrator, Chorus and Two Pianos based on Maya Angelou's "On the Pulse of Morning") was performed on July 31, 2026 at Harvard University's Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, MA. Performers were The Harvard Summer Chorus (Andrew Clark, conductor), with narrator Destiny Cooper. Carolyn Hsu and Kristin Livingston are the soprano soloists, and Michael Beltran the tenor soloist, with pianists Justin Blackwell and Brandon Straub. Locklair's piece was inspired by Angelou’s On the Pulse of Morning, which she delivered at the inauguration of President Bill Clinton in 1993.
