Seeing Clearly Before Reacting — Buddhist Wisdom
A reaction usually forms before we say a word — in the body, in feeling, in intention. Knowing what is wise rarely stops us in the moment, partly because much of what feels like reacting to a situation is really an attempt to escape what we feel inside. The Buddha's early teachings point to the small space between being touched and responding, where a feeling can be seen clearly before it turns into speech or action. Real freedom grows there — not by pushing emotion away, but by understanding it well enough that it no longer decides for us.
