The biggest kayak bass fishing tournament of my season took us to the Susquehanna River for championship weekend, and I walked away with the biggest tournament limit I’ve ever posted. This Susquehanna River kayak bass fishing tournament had everything — tough practice, changing river conditions, strong wind, tournament pressure, constant upgrades, and some of the hardest-fighting smallmouth bass I’ve caught all season. After a difficult practice day, I made the decision to abandon my original stretch and return to water I knew I could fish with confidence. Tournament morning quickly turned into an all-out grind for Susquehanna River smallmouth bass as I worked current seams, rocky areas, moving water, and high-percentage river structure trying to build a competitive five-fish limit. The highlight of the day was an absolute giant 19.5-inch Susquehanna River smallmouth bass that earned the Big Bass pot and helped me put together my biggest kayak bass fishing tournament limit ever. We spent much of the day battling for position on the leaderboard, making small upgrades and searching for one more quality smallmouth that could push us toward the podium. As the wind picked up and the bite got tougher, every fish mattered. We ultimately finished 9th out of 17 anglers, but this was still one of my best competitive kayak fishing performances of the season. Against some of the best kayak bass anglers in Pennsylvania, I put together my biggest tournament limit ever and left everything on the water. This video documents the full kayak bass fishing championship experience — traveling to the Susquehanna River, kayak fishing practice, tournament preparation, river smallmouth fishing, tournament strategy, reading current, locating bigger smallmouth bass, making upgrades, battling wind, chasing trophy smallmouth, and competing in a high-stakes kayak fishing tournament.
