Dag Heward-Mills says the clearest sign of a healthy nation is whether it has a shepherd, someone willing to pray, preach, and pay the price for God's word. England had John Wesley, who sent Francis Asbury to America, a man later counted among the sixty people critical to shaping the nation itself. France, in that same era, had no one like him. What happened next is the shock: the French Revolution, the king beheaded, the queen beheaded, the nobles slaughtered, then Napoleon. Same century, same continent, one nation blessed with a shepherd and one left without. He ties it straight back to prayer: pray for laborers, because one person willing to answer that call can change the course of a whole country.
