KIOB EP 204: Bobby Hauck OUT | Illinois Reacts After Ohio State Loss

Illinois fell to Ohio State, but the biggest news came afterward: defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck is out. Ryan Schroat and Kevin Ducey break down the loss to the Buckeyes, what went wrong defensively, and why Bret Bielema making a change at defensive coordinator could be exactly what the Illini need moving forward. Despite the final score, there were plenty of positives. The Illinois offense piled up more than 460 yards, rushed for nearly 200, and showed it can move the football against one of the most talented teams in the country. Aiden Laughery impressed, the offensive line battled, and Katin Houser and the Illini passing attack continue to give this team reason for optimism. Ryan and Kevin discuss: • Bobby Hauck’s departure and what led to the change • Illinois repeatedly having only nine defenders on the field • The defensive communication and secondary issues • What Bret Bielema may change defensively moving forward • Possible options to take over the defense • Illinois putting up 460+ yards against Ohio State • Aiden Laughery and the improving Illini running game • Braden Trimble, Collin Dixon and the Illinois receivers • Why the season is far from over at 2-2 • The remaining path to bowl eligibility • Previewing Purdue and why Illinois’ offense could have a big day • Ryan and Kevin’s predictions for Illinois vs. Purdue • Illinois volleyball’s impressive run and back-to-back ranked wins The defense has to improve, but the Illini offense showed it can compete against elite competition. With Purdue coming to Champaign, can Illinois turn the page and get the season back on track? #Illini #IllinoisFootball #B1GFootball #CollegeFootball #Purdue
