VOCES8 Foundation Choir & Orchestra: Lux Aeterna (Nimrod) - Edward Elgar arr. Taylor Scott Davis

Lux Aeterna - Edward Elgar arr. Taylor Scott Davis performed by VOCES8 Foundation Choir & Orchestra, conducted by Barnaby Smith. Programme Notes As with the Fauré, this particular orchestration of Elgar’s Nimrod was written for VOCES8’s LIVE From London broadcast during lockdown. Admittedly, the punch of a full orchestra is not something a chamber group can replicate ... but that was not the point of this creation. Paired with the Fauré Requiem, the Elgar was a purposeful ending to an online concert which premiered during Holy Week in April of 2021, capturing the darkness of the pandemic and the hope its grip was relinquishing. Lyrics Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis, quia pius es. May eternal light shine on them, Lord, with your saints for ever, for you are good. Give them eternal rest, Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon them, for you are good. ---- Credits Recorded at St Jude-on-the-Hill, Hampstead Garden Suburb, 5 & 6 June 2025 Producers: Adrian Peacock, Barnaby Smith.
