In 1989 I spent some weeks in South Africa, with every spare minute chasing steam with my 'video 8' camera. On a weekday afternoon I walked into Germiston depot and within minutes was in the cab of a 15f with John Gilberthorpe and Richard Niven. What an amazing pair of engine men and what a grand time it was riding on their footplate! This clip is of three opportunities I had to ride with them around Germiston on various shunts (unedited).
