Module Introduction for Memory Forensics

This introductory lecture provides an overview of memory forensics and the techniques used to investigate data captured from a running computer system. Topics include the role of system memory, the types of evidence that may be found in RAM, methods for acquiring memory, and the basic process of analyzing a memory image. The video also introduces commonly used forensic tools, including Magnet Forensics and the Volatility 3 Framework. Designed for digital forensics, cybersecurity, and incident response students, this lecture provides a foundation for understanding how volatile memory can reveal running processes, network activity, malware, credentials, and other evidence that may not be available from traditional disk analysis.
