Why Does Society Have A Timeline For Women ?? | Marriage By 25 ? | Sugandha Speaks Who decided that a woman has a timeline? At 22, you should have a job. At 24, you should be thinking about marriage. At 25, you should probably be married. And then comes the next question: “Bachche kab?” But who decided that this is how a woman's life is supposed to go? In this video, I’m talking about the pressure women face around age, marriage, career, financial independence, family expectations and the never-ending question of “society kya kahega?” Why is a “good rishta” often reduced to money, status and a good family? Why do we tell girls to become educated and independent, only to tell them that they should eventually stop building their own lives because “ab shaadi ki age ho gayi hai”? And why do we assume that a woman can simply continue everything exactly the same after marriage? This isn't an anti-marriage video. Marriage can be beautiful. Family can be beautiful. Wanting children can be beautiful. But marriage should be a choice — not a deadline. A woman can want love and ambition. A family and a career. Children and financial independence. A partner and her own identity. And maybe instead of asking a woman, “When are you getting married?”, we should start asking: “What do you want your life to look like?” Because society gets an opinion without having responsibility.
