Thanks so much for checking out my film. I started this project when I was 18, funded it from my own savings, and made it completely independently with my friends across high school and university.
It ended up becoming a four-year journey. We shot the film over the course of two years, and then I edited it myself on my laptop during college while trying to learn everything from scratch as I went. There was no big team behind it, no real budget, and no roadmap. Just friends, savings, late nights, borrowed time, and a lot of trial and error.
The film was inspired by the infamous creepypasta story The Russian Sleep Experiment. I was fascinated by the idea of a secretive military experiment gone horribly wrong, and we wanted to reimagine that kind of story through our own lens. We also drew from the atmosphere of real research facilities like Porton Down in the UK, using that sense of secrecy and unease to ground the story in something more unsettling.
Looking back, I know the film has its flaws, and there are definitely things I would do differently now. But I’m still very proud of it because it represents what can happen when you just start, even before you feel ready. Every mistake became part of my film school, and the whole experience taught me so much about writing, directing, editing, producing and finishing a feature film independently.
More than anything, I hope it encourages other young filmmakers to go out and make something. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. You learn by doing, by making mistakes, by solving problems, and by slowly finding your way.
Thanks again for watching. I genuinely appreciate all the support, feedback and kind words.
If you enjoyed the film and get a chance, I’d really appreciate any kind of review on IMDb or Letterboxd. It really helps the film a lot.
5 prisoners. 30 days with no sleep. Inspired by the infamous Russian Sleep Experiment.
Two detectives are drawn into a chilling investigation surrounding a clandestine military experiment hidden inside a secretive research facility. What began as a controlled operation, involving five prisoners and an experimental sleep-inhibiting gas, soon descends into madness, violence and something far more disturbing than anyone expected.
