Woh Kaun Thi? (transl. Who Was She?) is a 1964 Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller film directed by Raj Khosla, starring Sadhana, Manoj Kumar and Prem Chopra. The screenplay was written by Dhruva Chatterjee, but some parts were later rewritten by others. Madan Mohan rendered the music for this movie. The film was a box-office hit.[1] Its success had Khosla directing Sadhana in two more suspense thrillers: Mera Saaya (1966) and Anita (1967).
The film's premise is primarily taken from Wilkie Collins' fifth published novel, The Woman in White.
Movie Synopsis
• The Fateful Encounter: On a dark and stormy night, Dr. Anand (Manoj Kumar)—a rational and respected physician—drives down a lonely road and nearly hits a woman dressed in white (Sadhana). He offers her a ride, and she asks to be dropped off near a desolate graveyard. Once there, she mysteriously vanishes into the dark.
• Tragedy and Apparitions: Shaken by the encounter, Anand tries to resume his normal life, but the mysterious woman begins reappearing in bizarre places. Soon after, his fiancée Seema (Helen) is mysteriously murdered via a lethal injection.
• The Arranged Marriage: Overwhelmed by stress and pressure from his family, Anand reluctantly agrees to an arranged marriage. To his absolute shock, his new bride, Sandhya (also played by Sadhana), is the exact spitting image of the spectral woman from the stormy night.
• The Mystery Unravels: As Anand plunges into paranoia and begins doubting his own sanity, strange occurrences continue to haunt the household. The climax exposes a convoluted conspiracy orchestrated by scheming relatives, including cousin Ramesh (Prem Chopra), who used Sandhya's lookalike twin sister in an elaborate plot to drive Anand mad and steal his substantial family inheritance.
