This has brought traffic to a standstill, resulting in severe congestion. According to the police, the protest began this morning with workers from a factory called Essential Clothing Limited demanding higher wages; the unrest subsequently spread to several other factories. The workers took up positions on the Kaliakair-Fulbaria regional road and threw bricks and stones. In response, some factories declared an early closure for the day. The protesters have now occupied a section of the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the Mouchak area. The Industrial Police stated that efforts are underway to normalize the situation through discussions with the workers. Jamuna Television, also known as Jamuna TV, is a 24-hour news and current affairs television channel in Bangladesh.
