If the sea suddenly pulled back from the shore, would you stay and watch? 🌊 We've all seen it in the movies: the water drains away, fish flop on the sand, and that's your warning. But Prof Emma Hill from the Earth Observatory of Singapore says it's not a reliable sign. It happens sometimes, but definitely not all the time - it depends on where the tsunami was generated and the shape of the sea floor. The worst thing you can do is walk down to check. If you're at the beach and feel a strong earthquake, don't wait for instructions. Get to higher ground while you can. Singapore is well sheltered, but as LTC Navin from SCDF and Prof Hill both put it, low hazard doesn't mean no hazard. 📘 Download the free SCDF Civil Defence Emergency Handbook at go.gov.sg/scdfcdeh (or scan the QR code at the end of the video). It's available in all four official languages and tells you exactly what to do for each hazard. For more information on the ____, visit http://www.earthobservatory.sg/blog
