Retatrutide Lawsuits: What’s Really in These Black-Market Vials?

Retatrutide is one of the most talked-about investigational obesity medications in development—but while Eli Lilly continues its Phase 3 clinical trials, an unregulated market has emerged around products being sold online as “retatrutide.” In August 2026, Eli Lilly announced six lawsuits against businesses it alleges are illegally marketing and selling unapproved retatrutide products. At the same time, doctors and health authorities in Australia have been investigating serious illnesses in people who used products labeled as retatrutide, including cases of acute liver injury and severe dehydration. In one investigation, a vial labeled as containing 10 mg of retatrutide was found to contain approximately 19 mg.
