Dragon Ball GT Is Bad. Here's Why.

The moment it was revealed that Dragon Ball Daima would center around Goku turning back into a kid, there was a significant fan backlash. Of course, the same exact concept was already used once before with Dragon Ball GT. SPOILERS: A good portion of the fanbase DOES NOT LIKE DRAGON BALL GT. Simply put, this mere SIMILARITY to GT resulted in a ton of anger and vitriol aimed at the new show, months before it had even aired. There was so much outrage, in fact, that many simply skipped Daima entirely. Minds were made up: This was just going to be GT all over again, and they weren’t gonna watch it. Period. The question is… Why? How could one decision made in 1996 still burn people so hard today? I had to know why. Well, the short answer is… Dragon Ball GT is bad. The long answer? Hit play. Here in this video, I’ll tell you EXACTLY why. In what is perhaps the greatest endorsement of YouTube’s 1.5x speed feature to date, I bring to you this exhaustive, COMPLETE breakdown of all things Dragon Ball GT. 12 whole months in the making! As you can probably guess from the video’s runtime, this is indeed a FULL SERIES Review & Retrospective. A DEEP DIVE into WHY Dragon Ball GT is bad. Along the way, I’ll point out all GT’s major issues, we’ll study some fascinating interviews with key members of GT’s staff, I’ll compare GT directly with DBZ, and so much more. GT is worth looking back on here in 2025 for another reason: Akira Toriyama’s passing. GT gave us our first taste of a long form DB story without Toriyama’s involvement. And now, going forward… that’s just how the story is gonna HAVE to be told. Not only could a GT rewatch inform us on the whole “Goku turns into a kid” concept, but perhaps it can inform us on how DB and its characters may be written going forward without the creator’s involvement. Oh, and just to be clear: I’m gonna point out the things GT did WELL too! I PROMISE you this is not going to be a complete hate fest, by any means! There’s a lot of good stuff in there! Seriously! With that, I hope you enjoy watching this beast as much as I enjoyed making it! If you DO enjoy it, please hit that like button, subscribe to my channel, and share it with your friends!
