Rossini - Il barbiere di Siviglia Overture | Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Waldbühne Berlin 1996)

From the Waldbühne Berlin 1996 "Italian Night": Excerpt of the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Claudio Abbado, performing the Overture of "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by Gioachino Rossini. The opera is a funny masquerade: Count Almaviva wants to marry the young, rich Rosina. He is supported by his friend Figaro, a barber. Together they want to prevent the physician Dr. Bartolo from getting the beautiful Rosina, as he is only interested in her upcoming inheritance. Almaviva first pretends to be a soldier and then a singing teacher in order to speak to Rosina.
