Today, October 21, 2026, I announce my resignation from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party and from all responsibilities I held within the party." Notably, Ashutosh Maurya—a rebel MLA from the Samajwadi Party (SP)—had defied his party during the Rajya Sabha elections by casting his vote for the BJP candidate. Since then, Maurya has appeared increasingly close to the BJP.
