After making landfall in neighboring Andhra Pradesh, the storm unexpectedly changed its direction, heavily impacting Ganjam and Gajapati districts instead of the initially anticipated Malkangiri region. Extremely heavy rainfall—recording a staggering 550+ mm (546.6 mm) in Patrapur and severe downpours across the Chikiti area—led to widespread damage and cut off several localities in Ganjam. Due to the severe waterlogging, NDRF and ODRAF rescue teams were temporarily unable to reach stranded residents. Following direct communication with the Union Home Minister, the Central Government dispatched rescue helicopters to conduct aerial rescue operations once visibility and weather conditions improved. 📌 In this video, we cover:Chief Minister's official statement on Cyclone Arnab's unexpected trajectory. Severe rainfall record: Over 550 mm rain in Patrapur & Chikiti. Heavy flood damage in Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
