Flock Cameras: The AI Surveillance Network Towns Want Gone
In Moody, Alabama, a camera on a pole helped police find a kidnapped 13-year-old before an Amber Alert even went out. In Florida, the same kind of camera helped put a woman in jail for 13 days over the wrong car. And in Indianapolis, an officer is accused of using the same system to look up his ex-wife's car more than 950 times. One company, Flock Safety, now has about 120,000 of these AI license-plate cameras in 49 states, and town after town is voting to switch them off.
We follow one photo: what the camera actually records, how sightings add up to a picture of your life, the officers charged or accused of misusing it, who else can search it, how thin the rules are, whether it works, and why critics on the left and the right turned on it, as of October 27, 2026.
Damaging these cameras is a crime. This video reports online calls to tamper with them as news, and it does not show or describe how.
