ഓപ്പറേഷന്‍ സിന്ദൂറിനിടെ ഇന്ത്യയും പാകിസ്താനും തമ്മില്‍ അതിരൂക്ഷമായ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടല്‍ നടന്ന സമയത്ത്, ഡല്‍ഹിയെ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട് വന്ന പാകിസ്താന്റെ അതിവേഗ മിസൈല്‍ ഹരിയാനയിലെ സിര്‍സയ്ക്ക് മുകളിലൂടെ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ വ്യോമസേന തടഞ്ഞത് ആക്രമണം നടക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന സമയത്തിന് വെറും ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ മിനിറ്റ് മുമ്പായിരുന്നു. ഇത്രയും ചുരുങ്ങിയ സമയത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ പ്രതിരോധം നടത്തേണ്ട സാഹചര്യം ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നതിനായി, മിസൈല്‍ വിക്ഷേപണം സെക്കന്‍ഡുകള്‍ക്കുള്ളില്‍ കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന ബഹിരാകാശ അധിഷ്ഠിത സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ വികസിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ് ഇന്ത്യ. ഇത്തരം സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ നിലവിലെ വ്യോമപ്രതിരോധ ശൃംഖലയ്ക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ നേരത്തെ തന്നെ 'കില്‍ ചെയിന്‍' രൂപീകരിക്കാന്‍ സഹായിക്കും. അതുവഴി ഡല്‍ഹി പോലുള്ള ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് മിസൈല്‍ അന്തിമഘട്ടത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിന് വളരെ മുമ്പുതന്നെ അതിനെ തടയാനുള്ള ശ്രമം നടത്താനാകും. പാകിസ്താന്റെ ഫതേഹ്, ഷഹീന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിന് പുറത്തേക്കും സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ബാലിസ്റ്റിക് മിസൈലുകള്‍ക്കെതിരെ നേരത്തെയുള്ള മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് ലഭിക്കുന്നത്, മിസൈല്‍ ടെര്‍മിനല്‍ ഘട്ടത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിന് പുറത്തുവെച്ച് തന്നെ തടയാനുള്ള അവസരം ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് നല്‍കും. During the intense India-Pakistan confrontation amid Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force intercepted a high-speed Pakistani missile reportedly heading towards Delhi over Sirsa in Haryana, just one or two minutes before the expected time of impact. To avoid having to respond within such an extremely short window, India is developing space-based systems capable of detecting missile launches within seconds. Such systems could enable the existing air-defence network to establish a “kill chain” much earlier, allowing attempts to intercept missiles long before they enter the final phase of their trajectory towards targets such as Delhi. Early warning against Pakistan’s Fateh and Shaheen ballistic missiles, which can travel beyond the atmosphere, could give India an opportunity to intercept them outside the atmosphere before they enter the terminal phase.
