Cyclone Murasu Alert for Odisha | Ganjam Flood | Landslide Rescue | CM Mohan Majhi | Odia News

Cyclone Murasu Alert for Odisha | Ganjam Flood Relief Anger, Landslide Rescue & IPS Officer Controversy Cyclone Murasu is intensifying over the Bay of Bengal, with a possible landfall between Nellore and Narasapur in Andhra Pradesh between the night of November 2 and the early hours of November 3. While Andhra Pradesh is expected to face the stronger impact, five southern Odisha districts — Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada — are on alert for heavy rainfall and winds of 40–50 kmph. The state government has stepped up preparedness, with evacuation targeted for completion by Monday noon. Meanwhile, flood-hit Ganjam continues to face serious challenges. Traders in Asika market are selling damaged stock at heavily reduced prices and distributing some goods for free after suffering huge losses. Anger is also growing over alleged delays in flood relief distribution, with protests and road blockades reported in Sheragada and Nuagada, while residents raised their concerns with Minister Gokulananda Mallik in Dharakote. In another major tragedy, rescue operations continue in landslide-hit Gidipabali village along the Kandhamal-Ganjam border. Two more bodies have been recovered, while 10 people remain missing, with around 200 personnel involved in the search operation. The Odisha government has also announced a relief package for cyclone-affected districts, including ₹2,500 and 50 kg of rice per affected person, along with compensation for farmers, traders, fishermen and damaged properties. Separately, senior IPS officer Sushant Nath has been removed as Jail DG and posted as OSD in the Home Department after a suspended Choudwar Jail superintendent filed serious allegations against him, leading to a police case. These are the major developments making headlines across Odisha. #CycloneMurasu #OdishaWeather #GanjamFlood #AsikaMarket #FloodRelief #GidipabaliLandslide #LandslideRescue #OdishaReliefPackage #SushantNath #OdishaNews #AndhraPradesh #News18Odia Welcome to News18 Odia, your go-to destination for the latest news and updates from across India and beyond.
