If you've ever walked onto a used car lot and noticed those tyres looking a bit too glossy, this one's for you — by the end you'll be able to spot a baby oil trick in under ninety seconds, without touching a single tool. I've spent thirty-odd years under bonnets, and the shiniest tyres on any yard taught me the harshest lesson of my career: gloss isn't proof of care, it's proof of a cover-up. In this video I break down exactly what's in that bottle of baby oil, why it strips the protective waxes out of your rubber, how the same trick gets used on dashboards and even to hide early rust under paint, and I give you the real numbers on how often Australian sellers get caught doing it. No jargon, no upsell — just the household method your grandmother probably knew, the sidewall code every tyre already has stamped on it, and the one inspection rule that could save you thousands next time you're standing on a lot at four in the afternoon. If you want more of this kind of straight-talking, practical stuff, stick around and subscribe — I'm putting out these tricks every week so you never get caught out again. Barry Mechanic is where I hand you the trade secrets I picked up over thirty years under the bonnet, so you can keep driving smarter and longer. 🔧🛢️ #CarHacks #AussieMechanic #UsedCarTricks #BabyOilScam
