This is a video on how to prepare your "shoreline" data in ArcGIS Pro for use in the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) standalone application v.6. This video is designed to be Part 2/3 of a working tutorial for my lab members and colleagues.
Part 1 (Introduction and Expected Results): • DSAS Introduction and Expected Results
Part 3 (How to Merge and Export "Shorelines"): • How to Merge and Export "Shorelines" using...
In this video, we digitized bluff top and bluff toe, but those features were referred to as "shorelines" in the video dialog. We did not digitize the shoreline in this video, but rather, we are using the DSAS tool which requires a "shoreline" layer input. You can use this tutorial to digitize shorelines in the same way we digitized the bluff, but please be mindful that where you select your shoreline position is important.
Please be advised that this video is not endorsed by ESRI or the USGS. The workflow presented here is based on the guidelines created by Himmelstoss et al., my interpretation of how to use the tool, and the needs of my project.
DSAS was created by the USGS and documentation can be found here https://www.usgs.gov/centers/whcmsc/s...
