   • Star Blazers / Space Battleship Yamato   The best offense is a good defense. The original concept prior to using the Yamato for the voyage to Iscandar was 'Asteroid Ship Icarus'. Designer/Director Leiji Matsumoto had some thoughts on that. This scene seems to be an nod to that original concept. The Yamato/Argo needs to make repairs. They camouflage themselves with the nearby asteroid belt to buy time before the next attack.
