Your Team Knows What to Do. So Why Isn't It Happening? You know what matters. Your team knows what matters. Everyone understands the priorities. Everyone agrees on what needs to happen. And then… nothing happens. The deadline arrives. The report isn't finished. The project hasn't moved. The standard isn't being maintained. And eventually the leader asks: “Why aren't my people doing what we agreed?” Sound familiar? In this episode of Growth Percolator — Leadership in the AI Era, we explore the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Because clarity is important. But clarity alone doesn't create action. Execution also requires ownership, commitment, accountability, trust, consistency and leadership follow-through. We explore: • Why knowing what to do isn't the same as committing to do it • Why clear strategies can still produce poor execution • The difference between accountability and blame • Why leaders sometimes need to have the conversation when commitments aren't met • How AI can track tasks, monitor deadlines and identify problems • Why AI can monitor execution but cannot create genuine ownership • Why leaders need to examine their own role when accountability is missing • How leadership can create teams that take responsibility without constant supervision • Why the ultimate goal isn't more monitoring — but greater capability in people AI can tell you: “This task is late.” “This target hasn't been met.” “This project is falling behind.” But someone still has to ask: “Why?” And then listen. Someone has to understand the situation. Someone has to set the expectation. Someone has to support the person. And sometimes someone has to say: “This isn't good enough. We agreed to something different. And we need to change it.” That's leadership. AI can monitor execution. Leadership creates ownership. And perhaps that's one of the biggest opportunities of the AI era: Let technology help us see what is happening… so leaders can spend more time helping people make it happen. Because the goal isn't to create teams that need more monitoring. It's to create teams that need less of it. Teams that can think. Teams that can take ownership. Teams that can hold each other accountable. And teams that can get things done… even when the leader isn't in the room. The Percolator Question If your team knows what to do… but it isn't happening… *what part of the leadership system needs to change?* Think about it. Then lead differently. --- Continue the journey But there's another question we need to ask. We keep asking people to do more. More information. More technology. More productivity. More change. And now AI can help us do even more. But what happens when *more becomes too much?* What happens when the problem isn't that people don't know what to do… but that they're already carrying more than they can process? That's the question we'll explore in our next episode: AI Is Making Us Smarter. So Why Are We So Exhausted? Because perhaps the next leadership challenge isn't getting people to do more. *Perhaps it's knowing when enough is enough.* Don't miss it. --- About Growth Percolator Growth Percolator — Leadership in the AI Era explores what AI is changing about leadership, teams, workplace culture and the future of organisations. Our focus isn't simply on technology. It's on the human side of the transformation. Because businesses don't grow through technology alone. They grow through people who are ready to learn, adapt, lead and work together. *Better Leaders. Stronger Cultures. More Human Organisations.* Think about it. Then lead differently. #Leadership #AI #LeadershipInAI #FutureOfWork #HumanLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamLeadership #Accountability #WorkplaceCulture #GrowthPercolator
