Another DIY. I don't sell this but make it for family members. This is for dry hair. You should formulate it differently for normal or oily hair. Even though I don't have dry hair, my hair was the nicest it's been in a long time. It takes a bit getting used to because it's thinner than regular shampoo and not as sudsy but this did such a great job I don't think I want to mess with the formula to make it thicker or more sudsy. And I wouldn't recommend putting more than 5 grams of fragrance, in fact I'd recommend less. I was able to taste it in my mouth when I was shampooing.
This makes about 18 ozs. I formulated it for 20 but wound up with 18. Some of these are different than the video as I adjusted it as I went on:
If you want it thick, do not use essential oil and/or add more salt. I use aloe vera juice and a few other ingredients for thickening but if you like it thicker, add salt and do not use essential oils. Do not use xanthan gum in this recipe.
About an 18 oz shampoo:
Water phase
260 grams of distilled water
100 grams of aloe vera juice (you can do half and half too or leave the av juice out and do 360 of distilled water
20 grams salt
60 grams SCI noodles or SCI granules. You have to experiment with SCI to see what you like best. I sometimes do half noodles and half granules. SCI is NOT water soluble so you must dissolve it in cocobetaine before adding to water
20 grams foaming soy
12 grams glyceral carylate caprate (do not use if you're not using salt...this needs salt to be activated)
12 grams gycol stearate
30 grams hydrolzyed protein (I used oat)
60 grams cocobetaine
30 grams decyl glucoside or coco glucoside (or 15 of each)
12 grams d-panthenol
10 grams glycerin
10 grams aloe vera gel
cool down I
7 grams liquid germall plus at under 140
cool down II
fragrance (it will thin if you use essential oils or citrus oils. It may discolor if you use vanilla)
Salt to thicken.
15-20 grams honeyquat
10-15 grams extract (I used green tea and aloe)
I don't use silicone but if you want to use it, here is where you would. I don't know how much.
I would advise against coloring it. The glycol stearate should make it shimmery
Heat and hold aloe vera juice and distilled water
In a separate pan combine foaming soy, cocobetaine and SCI noodles and melt together. It only takes a few minutes for them to melt. Best melted in a double boiler as they can burn easily.
When water / juice is held for 20 minutes add the rest of the water phase ingredients.
After they are combined add the surfactants (foaming soy, cocobetaine, SCI)
Allow to cool to below 140 and add Liquid Germall Plus (I usually add it around 125)
At 115 add the honeyquat and extracts. My most popular products were the peppermint foot creme paired with foot scrub, muscle balm and baby castor jelly! Check them out!
