PAGAD marches through Belgravia to fight crime

Cape Town, South Africa - 11 October 2026: Anti-crime group PAGAD (People Against Gangsterism and Drugs) marched through the suburb of Belgravia in Athlone. The group together with residents of the area marched to the homes of suspected drug dealers, gangsters and people suspected of being involved in criminal activities. As the group marched past the Vygieskraal informal settlement known as “Die Vlei”, some residents of the settlement came out to reject the presence of the crowd. While the group marched down several streets in the suburb the Anti-Gang Unit division of the police entered “Die Vlei” and conducted raids into shacks and arrested several suspects.
