WEST BENGAL GETS 16 NEW NATIONAL HIGHWAYS! 2,000 KM ROAD UPGRADE PLAN

West Bengal’s road infrastructure could see a major transformation as the Centre begins the process of upgrading 16 important state highways into National Highways, covering around 2,000 kilometres. The proposed road network includes strategically important routes connecting Petrapole, industrial zones, border areas and Gangasagar, potentially strengthening connectivity for trade, industry, tourism and regional transportation. The proposal was submitted by West Bengal Public Works Minister Ajay Poddar to Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, with the Centre reportedly responding positively to the proposal.
