Sweden, Stockholm - walking in Mood Shopping #125

A very busy day in Sweden, Stockholm. I walked around the new shopping Mall called Mood. MOOD Stockholm is a shopping mall in Salénhuset on Norrmalm in central Stockholm. The main entrance is on the corner of Regeringsgatan / Mäster Samuelsgatan. The mall was inaugurated in March 2012 and was nominated for Stockholm Building of the Year 2013. In 2009, the property owner AMF Fastigheter decided that the worn Salénhuset would be rebuilt and the surfaces modernized and designed more attractively. Salénhuset was completed in 1978, named after the house's original owner, the businessman and shipowner Sven Salén. After an extensive renovation, the MOOD Stockholm mall was launched in 2012. The building received five new entrances, the facade was refurbished and new retail space was created on three floors for about 55 shops and several restaurants with different orientations. At the entrance, Cajsa von Zeipel's sculpture Pretty Vacant can be seen, standing wide-legged on high-heeled platform shoes and with slightly bent knees. She seems to carry the house on her shoulders. The rebuilding costs were estimated at SEK 325 million. The project was carried out by Skanska according to drawings by White Architects and Concept Stockholm. [1] [2] About Stockholm's new shopping streets, Stockholm's city architect Karolina Keyzer said: "A modern city construction project which, through the renewal of a classic and perhaps a little forgotten Stockholm street, shows the potential in rereading the city's central back streets."
