What happens when one of Japan's biggest television programmes comes to Wiltshire to film Stonehenge and a newly created crop circle? This film takes you behind the scenes of an exciting two-day international television production, where Beaumont Studio was brought in to provide professional cinematic drone filming and aerial cinematography for Nippon TV, Japan. The production was for ItteQ: Let's Challenge the World, one of Japan's best-known and longest-running travel and entertainment television programmes. The programme takes its presenters around the world to experience extraordinary locations, challenges and adventures. For this UK production, the team travelled to Hampshire & Wiltshire, with filming taking place at a remarkable crop circle near Salisbury and the world-famous Stonehenge. THE CROP CIRCLE Our filming began late in the evening at the crop circle location, as the production team prepared for the following morning's filming. The exact formation was created overnight, meaning that at around 5am we returned to the field to see the completed design for the first time. From ground level, the full scale and complexity of the formation was difficult to appreciate. Once the drone was airborne, the complete design was revealed from above, showing the intricate geometry within the wider Hampshire & Wiltshire landscape. This is where professional drone cinematography becomes particularly powerful. Aerial filming allows viewers to see locations and landscapes from perspectives that simply aren't possible from the ground. STONEHENGE After the early morning crop circle filming, the production moved on to Stonehenge, arriving at around 7am to film the challenge created for the ItteQ programme. Stonehenge is one of the world's most recognisable landmarks, but capturing it effectively for television requires more than simply flying a drone around the monument. The aerial sequences needed to complement the ground cameras and support the creative vision of the production team. Shot planning, timing, composition, flight paths and changing production requirements all played an important part. WORKING WITH NIPPON TV Working alongside an international television production team requires flexibility, clear communication and a professional approach to every flight. Schedules can change, weather conditions can evolve and creative requirements can develop throughout the day. Our role was to work alongside the producers, directors and camera crew to capture the aerial footage required while ensuring the drone operation remained safe and efficient. Alongside the drone footage, we also captured behind-the-scenes material using a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, documenting some of the people, equipment, locations and atmosphere surrounding the production. BEAUMONT STUDIO Beaumont Studio specialises in cinematic drone filming, aerial cinematography and video production for television, film, documentaries, businesses, brands and organisations throughout the UK. Our approach combines creative aerial filming with professional flight planning, local knowledge and production support. Through our nationwide network of experienced, fully qualified drone pilots, Beaumont Studio can provide professional aerial filming across the UK without relying on a single pilot travelling long distances to every production. For international broadcasters and production companies, this provides genuine advantages, including faster mobilisation, reduced travel requirements, local knowledge and greater flexibility when filming locations or schedules change. This Nippon TV production is a great example of what Beaumont Studio provides, professional aerial cinematography that integrates seamlessly into a wider television production. From a field in the Hampshire countryside at 5am, to Stonehenge just a couple of hours later, this was an exciting and rewarding production to be part of. We are proud to have supported Nippon TV, ItteQ: Let's Challenge the World and the wider production team, and to have captured these remarkable Hampshire & Wiltshire locations from the air.
