Diwali Special Edible Candles Recipe 🕯️🍫 A beautiful blend of tradition and creativity, this luxurious homemade sweet is the perfect centrepiece for your festive dessert table. Ingredients For the Dry Fruit Filling • Cashews (kaju) 50 gm • Almonds 50 gm • Walnuts 50 gm • Fox nuts (makhana) 20 gm • Raisins 50 gm • Pumpkin seeds 2 tbsp • Melon seeds 2 tbsp • 2 tbsp liquid glucose For the Khoya Layer • Khoya (mawa) – 250 gm • 1 tbsp ghee • 2 tbsp milk powder • 2 tbsp sugar • 1 tsp cardamom powder For Decoration • White chocolate – as needed • Whole almonds – for the candle flames • A little liquid glucose – for attaching the almonds Method Step 1: Prepare the Dry Fruit Filling 1. Heat a cooking pan and add the cashews, almonds, walnuts, fox nuts, raisins, pumpkin seeds, and melon seeds. 2. Dry-roast the ingredients until lightly toasted, then transfer them to a plate and set aside. 3. In the same pan, add 2 tablespoons of liquid glucose and cook for about 2 minutes until it begins to melt. 4. Add the roasted dry fruits and seeds. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes until everything is evenly coated. 5. Transfer the mixture onto butter paper and shape it into a long log. Leave it for about 5 minutes to set slightly. Step 2: Prepare the Khoya Mixture 1. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan and add the khoya. 2. Cook for about 2 minutes, stirring continuously. 3. Add the milk powder, sugar, and cardamom powder. 4. Mix everything well until the ingredients combine into a smooth, workable mixture. 5. Transfer the khoya mixture onto butter paper and flatten it evenly with a rolling pin. Step 3: Shape the Candles 1. Place the dry fruit log in the centre of the flattened khoya mixture. 2. Carefully wrap the khoya around the dry fruit log, covering it completely. The dry fruit filling should remain inside, with the khoya on the outside. 3. Gently shape the log and cut it into 3–4 equal pieces. Step 4: Coat with White Chocolate 1. Melt the white chocolate using a double boiler. 2. Dip each khoya and dry fruit piece into the melted white chocolate until fully coated. 3. Place the coated pieces on butter paper and allow the chocolate to set slightly. Step 5: Create the Edible Candle Design 1. Transfer some melted white chocolate into a piping bag. 2. Pipe white chocolate down the sides of each piece to create a realistic dripping-wax candle effect. 3. Dip the tip of a whole almond into a little liquid glucose and place it upright on top of each candle to create the flame. 4. Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving.
