Endgame essentials : triangulation

Technical endgames are perhaps not to everyone’s taste. However there are certain endgame principles and ideas that are quite simply a 'must know', prerequisite for any chess player. These include opposition, square of the pawn and triangulation the subject of this chess video. Essentially there are certain chess positions where we would like to lose a move, give it to our opponent so that they must cede space and we can invade the space left behind using the opposition to push them further into a deleterious position that will eventually prove to be unsustainable. Triangulation is simply a technical manoeuvre that helps us achieve just that. I provide a technical example and try to provide a game where the endgame principle and technique is actually used in chess praxis. The chess game in this instance was played in 1922 between Max Euwe a Grandmaster and former world champion from the Netherlands and his opponent Hendrik van Hartingsvelt. If you would like to play over this i provide the study material and also a link to a site where you can practice triangulation against a computer. its my hope that i can inculcate a taste for further endgame study as i myself struggled with it for many years.
