Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1945, Young emerged as a pivotal force in the 1960s folk and rock scenes. This recording features Neil Young (vocals, guitar, banjo), James Taylor (banjo, backing vocals), Linda Ronstadt (backing vocals), Tim Drummond (bass), and Kenny Buttrey (drums). The track appeared on the 1972 album *Harvest*, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 and has since achieved 4x Platinum certification in the United States. The composition utilizes Young’s distinct high-tenor vocal delivery paired with a stripped-back acoustic arrangement that emphasizes lyrical clarity. This style helped define the 1970s singer-songwriter movement, bridging the gap between country-folk traditions and the burgeoning rock radio format. Harvest stands as the best-selling album of 1972, earning widespread critical acclaim and solidifying Young’s reputation as a master of introspective, character-driven storytelling.
