Asking the horse to give their head and neck laterally is a very key Foundation to working with your horse on the ground.
Now what happens when you ask your horse to flex their head and neck and they just keep turning with their head flexed but don't stop? How do you fix it?
in many cases if you try this exercise and don't succeed, and the horse keeps turning, it's because you got out of position and the horse was able to turn away, therefore, the horse thinks that is the correct answer and will continue the behavior. The only way this can be corrected is if you hang on and say "whoa" until the horse stops.
This is very important for several reasons, the number one reason is that this is the basis for the one rein stop. and the number two reason is that asking the horse to stop and give laterally games the horses respect and control. now accomplished in this is a little harder than you may think. so I'd like you to watch first the demo with the trainer and how to do it and then with the owner of the horse.
This is Royalty a Saddlebred Gelding and his owner Aila. So proud of these two!!
