The 1964 Fiat Nuova 500D is one of the most iconic versions of the classic Italian "Cinquecento," representing the mature stage of the original model featuring rear-hinged "suicide" doors. The "D" generation was produced between 1960 and 1964, eventually being succeeded by the 500F model. Technical Specifications and Key Features • Engine: Unlike the early Nuova versions, the Model D received an improved 499 cc twin-cylinder engine (air-cooled)—derived from the 500 Sport version—capable of producing around 17–18 horsepower. Design and Bodywork: The defining feature remains the rear-hinged doors ("suicide doors"). The Trasformabile version is one of the most sought-after by collectors, distinguished by its full-length folding fabric roof (which opens all the way back to the engine area).
