The Men in the Well - Study Where Winds Meet (49)

In this episode, we will complete “Encounter: The Men in the Well” and discover the Bamboo Curtain. The ending of the “Encounter: The Men in the Well” is deeply unsettling. We took pity on Li Wa trapped in the well and brought him food and clothing, yet he had planned from the start to escape by killing me and stealing my identity. His name Wa means frog in Chinese. A petty thug overheard our agreement. He sent his little beggar brother to delay me while he rushed to the meeting first. In the dark, Li Wa mistook him for me and killed him. He cut off the victim’s head to hide his identity, then dressed the corpse in the red garment I’d given Li Wa. Clues reveal the truth: the red robe was soaked, but the shoes stayed dry. Li Wa fled after the murder. This story is thought-provoking. The most terrifying thing in the jianghu is never ghosts, but human hearts. Kindness does not always beget kindness.
