Upper Mustang (formerly Kingdom of Lo) is an upper part (Northern area) of Mustang District, which is located in Nepal. The Upper Mustang was a restricted kingdom until 1992 which makes it one of the most preserved regions in the world, with a majority of the population still speaking traditional Tibetic languages. Lo manthang(लोमान्थाङ) is the capital of the ancient kingdom of mustang. It offers some interesting gompas, royal palaces, narrow streets and traditional houses. I eventually made it to the highest point of the trip, the Kora La Border which is a Nepal - China Border at 4660m above sea level. The journey was tough but the memories made and the people’s I met through this journey was very special. Traveling solo has its own pros and cons but sometimes it is worth the risk.
