The organ world lost a great musician: Simon John Preston CBE (4 August 1938 – 13 May 2022) He will forever remain a giant in my mind: the very first CD of organ music I ever owned was "The World of the Organ" - a wonderful disc of beautifully-played organ classics, and amongst those was this wonderful piece by Guilmant. I recorded this on the wonderful sampleset of the amazing Walcker organ of St. Antonius, Papenburg (Germany) from Pipeloops. The instrument has a fascinating history and in 2020 became one of the most significant new installations in northern Germany in recent years: featuring 99 stops, the instrument is eclectic with massive scale. http://www.pipeloops.com/product_info...
