In this 21 st Century, we have opportunities to enjoy, opportunities to work, opportunities to do business, have friends, and the other side opportunities to know the Lord, to work for the Lord, to be holy and so on. Opportunities in God and opportunities without God. What is the measuring rod with which you choose your opportunities? We have a lot to gain from the world but how do you gain it? 1.BE A VICTOR, NOT A VICTIM The life of blessing is victorious, not victimized. a. Walks by faith Now, we see the choice of two righteous men. Genesis 13:10 Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan. Lot chose the fertile land in the plains of Jordan. He chose by sight. It was well watered and had everything you need to succeed. It was in the direction of Sodom and Gomorrah. b. He's saying hey, listen, this world is not my home. I am a stranger here. I'm a sojourner here. I'm not putting down deep roots in this world because there is a world to come and that world is my home. c. Always ready for battle And by the way, I think this is also interesting. When Abram heard the news, this is a guy who's walking with God; Abram does ready himself for the fight. I do find it interesting, this is the only time that it's recorded that Abram does this, but he does it. He armed his servants and he went to fight. 2. BE SEPARATED, NOT ISOLATED The life of blessing is separated, not isolated. We’ve already seen that Abram was a stranger and a sojourner; however, he didn’t take this to mean that a life of separation meant a life of isolation. 3.
